poem:"Little Word, Little White Bird" by carl sandburg

from emma:

This poem was introduced to me by my drama teacher in my sophomore year of high school and it has stuck with me ever since. I find the language to be absolutely delicious to speak and so comforting to hear. I am a panicky person, and although I do my best to work through that, sometimes I get wrapped up in my own worry-wart behaviors. When this happens, all I want is a softly spoken word of comfort from someone I trust. I'm currently at home with my Mom and luckily for me, she's very good at that. The little white bird in this poem does just that, and I pray the love of those around you and of who you believe in speaks to you this week in that way. While there's a time for a strong wind to shake mountains, an earthquake, or a fire to speak to the people, a still, small voice? That's the kind of comfort that speaks to me the most. (1 Kings 19:11-12)
